How to be a Superstar Bridesmaid

It has started ~ wedding season.  Chances are you not only will be attending a wedding this summer but you will be in at least one.  You are on the ball with the dress and shoes but what else are you responsible for?

The bride has asked you to be in the wedding because she knows you can handle the responsibility.  Ask the bride what she expects from you on her special day; add your own touch to make the day extra special.  Know the unspoken jobs of every bridesmaid:

Relieve the bride of stress.  When the melt down comes (and it always does), take her away.  Treat her to coffee or a pedicure to show her that her bridesmaids are here for her.  The bride will be eternally grateful for your sympathetic ear and removal from the negative situation.

Give the bride a positive word.  When she is ready to blow up at the groomsmen or mother, let her vent with you and save her from making an apology later.  Remind her how a good friend the groomsman is or how helpful mother has been in order to change her attitude.

Be the diplomatic bad guy.  When another member of the wedding party is stepping out of line, step in and remind them it is the bride's day.  Save the bride from the headache of scolding the best man or flower girl.  You will only be the bad guy for a short period of time. 

Reassure the bride.  After the wedding and honeymoon, be the first to congratulate her on the best wedding ever.  Have a small dinner party so she can tell everyone about the honeymoon and everyone can look through pictures.

Being the best bridesmaid ever will put you at the top of the brides list and she will never forget what a wonderful friend you are!
